For those of you who have trouble sticking to a healthy diet because you’re just too busy each day to cook the meals you should be eating, it can be tempting to turn to convenience options such as protein shakes and bars.

Both of these options present major problems however.

With protein shakes, you’ll take in mostly all protein, meaning you’ll fall low in the important carbs and fats you need to sustain your energy levels. While you could choose a meal replacement shake, most don’t contain quality carbs or enough fats to meet your needs either.

On the protein bar front, you’ll be met with options that are loaded with sugar, taste more like cardboard than anything, or are so high in sugar alcohols that they’ll do a number on your digestive tract. It can feel like you’re choosing between two bad options here.

This is why I’m always on the lookout for a product that really surpasses most others that you’d see out there that makes sticking with your diet quick, convenient, and enjoyable all at the same time.

Recently I came across the website Uraaw.ca and decided to try their ‘create your own’ protein bars.

The Process

This process is unlike any other as you’ll actually have the opportunity to pick and choose which ingredients you want to include in your bars. For instance, if you’re on a low carb diet, it’s not an issue as you can avoid some of the carb-heavy ingredients like dried fruit or oats and instead, choose lower carb options like nuts and seeds.

You’ll also have your choice of protein powder options, so for those who are vegetarian or can’t consume whey due to the lactose, you can simply opt otherwise.

The Benefits

The benefits to this is that you can basically create a completely customized bar based on your own diet needs. Regardless if you’re aiming to build muscle, lose fat, or just improve your health (and be sure to check out the boosters you can include if that’s the case), you can make these bars work for you.

They’re also excellent for those with serious food allergies or who are just going gluten free and can’t eat some of the other bars because of the ingredients they contain.

The Product

So when my bars arrived, and I choose to create one from peanut butter, apples, coconut, and the fiber syrup, which contains no sugar at all, I was excited to give them a try. The first thing I noticed was the texture was unlike most bars on the market.

While many bars are rather hard or so chewy you struggle to eat them, these had more of a crumble-like effect. To be honest, it was more like eating a Crispy Crunch bar than anything – only without the chocolate coating and with far better nutrition. Mine had a very good peanut butter taste.

If you like peanut butter, I’d highly recommend choosing to add peanut butter to your bars.
